Crash, Smash, Bash, Crash, Smash, Bash.

When I drive, whether it be on urban roads or interstate highways, I try to keep a safe distance from the auto which is ahead of me: a safe distance of three to five vehicles on the highway, and at least two vehicles on urban roads. That's all very well, but on interstates and fast urban roads the "weaving wankers" are often likely to switch lanes and move into the gap which I have carefully created in front of me. And I cannot control the safe distance from the vehicles which are following me. ------------------------------------------------------- The "two vehicle" rule is crucially important on urban roads, especially at STOP signs and at TRAFFIC lights, when another vehicle is ahead of me. "Caution" is the rule, because the vehicle/s ahead of me may well not move forward with equal or even speed. Thus it was the other day, when I was driving north on Honore Ave from 17th St., here in SRQ, I came to a stop at the traffic light at De

Too much excitement in one day.

It all started early this morning at about 6:30   The little hook shaped anchor which keeps my dental bridge in place somehow hooked it self onto my tongue.  Try as I might I could not dislodge it.  I was crying out loud "ouch, ouch, ouch",  so much so that the dog and the cats got very concerned. I saw myself en route to the walk in emergency clinic  ( knowing that my Dentist's office does not open until 8:30 ).  But luck, and not good judgment, I pushed the bridge back into place, and lo and behold my tongue was released.  No blood either. I needed yet more excitement, so   I got round to digging out the pretty "Snow on the Mountain" which stood alongside my car-port.  The "landscapers" who service our condo complex gave it a radical trim about six week ago,  so radical that it died. There was a strange beauty to it's leafless limbs, but when I noticed that it was creeping with caterpillars, I knew it had to go. Digging out the tree, and

And I say to myself "what a wonderful week".

Careful readers of this blog will have noted that I had two first-class visits last week with friends from St. Boniface Church, Sarasota. On Monday last it was with Deacon Alan Rogers. On Friday last it was with  the the Revd. John (Jack) Chrisman and his wife Donna. I began this new week (Sunday 26th July 2015)  with another time of blessing with a friend. He is Joe R, (from Massachusetts) whom I have known since 1980. I have been with Joe through thick and thin:  as an assisting Priest at his wedding to Deanne; at the time when one of his brothers was murdered (a ghastly time) ; and at the funerals for his mother Irene, and his father Ray. My friendship with Joe and Deanne has led to them have a rich and abiding friendship with my brother Martyn and his wife Wendy (that's a long and lovely story). Joe is in Orlando, FL for a business conference.  He took advantage of some down time in that conference to drive over to SRQ today. It was a gracious and blessed time.
